Job Overview:
MERS Goodwill is looking for focused, driven Employment Specialist applicants for our Belleville, IL team.
The position full-time weekdays has excellent benefits and involves assisting individuals with preparing, obtaining, and maintaining employment in the community.
The right applicant is confident, independent, resilient, and is passionate about advocating for our Madison and St.
Clair Counties clients.
The position will work with individuals with disabilities to obtain employment based on their interests, abilities, and support needs.
Providing support to develop resumes, interview skills, and other job readiness skills; and following up to support in being employed successfully after the time of hire.
Maintain current knowledge of the job market, community employers, and an understanding of individual consumers functional limitations.
Ongoing communication with referral sources and maintenance of consumer.

Review referral information, establish professional and ethical relationship, perform timely intake interview and develop/maintain individual plan for employment with all consumers Develop and maintain good working relationships with referral sources and provide ongoing communication regarding case activities Effectively use intake information, vocational evaluation (if applicable), and local job market information, and knowledge of community resources to develop contact potential employers and gain employment opportunities Complete all agency paperwork in timely manner and maintain confidentiality according to agency guidelines Actively work with consumer to develop job seeking skills such as job readiness interviewing, application completion, resume development, and job retention Spend a significant amount of time in the community making employer contacts including cold calls (in person and over the phone), making presentations, and following up on those contacts to secure employment opportunities Provide retention services after a client is placed on the job with a combination of contacts with the employer and the client, both in person and over the phone Maintain average of 3
new starts each month Maintain minimum of 70% 90-day retention rate for individuals placed Maintain minimum 70% placement rate of individuals closed from services Maintain average of 3
placements per month Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
HS/GED required.
BS/BA in Social Work or related field preferred.
1 year of working with a diverse population preferred 2 years of Social Work, Human Services,Psychology, Counselling or related field preferred Requires ability to work well with people; to develop and maintain relationships with area employers.
Must have excellent written/verbal communication skill Valid driver's license, current auto insurance, and independent transportation required.
