Supervisory Medical Support Assistant

Supervisory MSAs at this level plan and direct programs at medical centers and/or satellite outpatient clinics and have full supervisory responsibility for supervising at least one subordinate team leader or supervisor. Assignments at this level include, but are not limited to:
Full administrative and professional responsibility for planning and directing MSA activities Assigns and evaluates the work of subordinate staff Resolves complex patient issues to ensure patient services are met Identifies educational or training needs of subordinate staff Ensures front-line contact with patients and staff by setting the tone for perception concerning quality of healthcare services at the VA. Works closely with clinic and HAS leadership on scheduling issues, including missed opportunities, and access Responsible for extracting and analyzing data to provide reports supporting performance measures, insurance capture, workload capture to senior management Conducts regular meetings with subordinates for discussion and resolution of work problems Coaches and trains staff for full scope of training completion to ensure coverage at any given time Initiates all requests for personnel action, performance appraisals, and participates in the hiring selection process by reviewing applications, sitting on a selection/interview panel, and making recommendations to the selecting official. Medical Support Assistants must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with VA Handbook 5005, part II, chapter 3, section A, paragraph 3j. Experience and Education:
Experience- six months experience of clerical, office, customer service, or other administrative work that indicates the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the positionknowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position; OR Education- one year of higher education above high school; OR Experience/Education Combination- equivalent combination of clerical, office or other administrative work experience and education above the high school level. Grade Determinations:
GS-8, In addition to meeting the basic requirements for employment, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level in the Federal Service. Examples of Specialized experience are:
assigns and evaluates the work of subordinate staff in a clinical setting, resolves complex problems to ensure patient services are met; assures accurate appointment management and the coordination of all administrative information between the professional staff and the patient; evaluates new products, equipment, and systems in order to make recommendations for improved operations; identifies educational or training needs; makes final decisions on selections; evaluates performance, and takes disciplinary action when necessary.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
